Alaska Airlines Flights To Las Vegas

Alaska Airlines Flights To Las Vegas – As the world slowly reopened, MrsWT73 learned of a concert opportunity near Las Vegas, Nevada, United States of America. Since we haven’t been anywhere major or significant other than our previous trip to the Caribbean, it’s time to travel south to beautiful Las Vegas, Nevada, United States of America.

This post is one chapter of our post-pandemic journey to Las Vegas, United States. This trip was enhanced with Marriott Bonvoy Elite status, Hertz Gold Plus rewards, and the Alaska Mileage Plan. For more information on how this trip was booked, see our trip presentation here. For other parts of the trip, see this index.

During the reopening days of the pandemic, MrsWT73 happened to find out that her favorite high school band “Duran Duran” was playing select venues during their world tour.

When she couldn’t join her favorite concert in Hyde Park, London, UK, she looked further afield. She ended up finding a Duran Duran concert at the Wynn Casino and Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, which was close to the long Labor Day weekend.

Unfortunately, by the time we got organized to buy tickets for the concert, the prices for the concert had gone up to $500 per ticket. I wasn’t that big of a Duran Duran fan, so this was the perfect opportunity to celebrate a big job promotion at one of the best restaurants in America; Joel Robochon at Le Maison, Las Vegas. While MrsWT73 rocked her “Wild Boys”, I treated myself to one of the most elaborate tasting menus in the US.

Due to the pandemic putting a bit of a damper on travel plans, we had a lot of unused travel credits and benefits waiting to be used.

We ended up booking this trip to Las Vegas departing from Bellingham International Airport (BLI), WA. At the time of our booking in May 2022, the United States required a telehealth-assisted rapid antigen test performed 24 hours before travel to fly to the United States. However, no such test was required for persons who entered the United States by automobile. So we booked around this issue by departing from our nearby suburban airport in Bellingham, Washington.

We end up using the Alaska Airlines 2 for 1 Companion Fare that comes with the Alaska Airlines MasterCard. Our flight sequence if we were to travel Bellingham – Seattle – Las Vegas – Seattle – Bellingham.

While we initially had a couple of long 3-hour layovers in Seattle, we ended up getting a free same-day flight change at check-in, which allowed us to transfer to previous flights for free, courtesy of Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan MVP Gold Status.

While the flight was fairly easy and uneventful, it was one of the first in recent memory to actually be in economy class on our short annual one-way Q400 and Boeing 737-9 Max. Therefore, I did not bother to review the various segments of the flight. Despite being near the top of the Alaska Mileage Plan upgrade lists, it was among the few that did not result in an upgrade to first class or higher.

Our bill ended up being $730 for two (or $365 per person). It wasn’t the cheapest ticket, but we received a free checked bag courtesy of Alaska MVP Gold Status and an Alaska Airlines Mastercard.

Of course, you would credit those flights to the Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan and earn 100% Elite Qualifying Miles and 100% Redeemable Miles, resulting in a total of 2,732 Qualifying Miles that can be redeemed with a special bonus of at least 500 miles to qualify for elite for a short 94 miles. segment between Bellingham and Seattle.

As always, upon arrival at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas, we were treated to beautiful views of the desert. There is a desert landscape in Nevada that is always very interesting and is an initial contrast to our area in the Pacific Northwest.

We haven’t been to Las Vegas in a long time. We had access to a number of higher-end hotel programs, including the popular American Express Fine Hotels and Resorts offered by the American Express Platinum Card. We were tempted to return to the excellent Aria Sky Suites Las Vegas, but instead used our Marriott Bonvoy program connection and stayed at two affiliated Marriott Bonvoy properties.

We made reservations at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas by Autograph Collection. We looked at a fountain view room and ended up booking a one bedroom suite. Although the hotel is affiliated with American Express Fine Hotel and Resorts, we valued the Marriott Bonvoy elite night credit more than the additional benefits and ended up forgoing the American Express Fine Hotel and Resorts benefits in favor of the Marriott Bonvoy Cash Reservation at Marriott. Web page. I read about the challenges and lack of consistency in earning Marriott Bonvoy points and stay credits through the American Express platform, so we decided against booking through Marriott channels.

Since hotel prices in Las Vegas change by the minute in New York, we initially locked in a one-bedroom with a fountain view at a flexible rate of $360 per night. This rate dropped to $330 after 30 days and finally to $280 after 7 days before our break. We rebooked at a lower flexible rate and resort fee of $45 per night. Although we didn’t receive many Marriott Bonvoy Elite benefits, we took the opportunity to earn 9,800 Marriott Bonvoy points and enjoy a great room with a view of the Bellagio fountain. We paid for this stay with the American Express Marriott Bonvoy credit card, which allows us to earn an additional 5 points per dollar.

Our second stop was at the nearby Marriott Grand Château Las Vegas. The cost to stay in a one-bedroom Fountain View suite at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas by Autograph Collection was approximately $800 per night on the Friday and Saturday nights of the Labor Day long weekend.

Although we didn’t move to a regular Cosmopolitan 2 Queen City room, we ended up moving one block down the street and down the street to our first Marriott Vacation Club at the Marriott Grand Chateau Las Vegas.

Our rate here was about $259 for Friday and Saturday nights; place compared to our price at the nearby Cosmopolitan. We also paid for this stay with the American Express Marriott Bonvoy credit card, which allowed us to earn an additional 5 points per dollar.

Although I didn’t have much on the agenda for this particular trip, I was able to have three great culinary experiences. Joël Robouchon Las Vegas has been on my bucket list for quite some time and I enjoyed a great dining experience. We also got to experience Gordon Ramsey’s Hell’s Kitchen Las Vegas and a great breakfast at Bouchon at the Venetian, along with a triple concert by John Waite, Men at Work and Rick Springfield on Fremont Street; not bad for a short 4 day stay.

While a trip to Las Vegas often covers familiar territory, this was a perfectly relaxing trip punctuated by some great restaurants. I managed to get multiple visits to three interesting restaurants, along with two new hotel visits.

If you’re visiting Las Vegas, are there any tips or secrets you use to get great value?
