I booked a flight from Santa Ana to San Jose to visit some friends in the Bay Area. Alaska has the cheapest flight and I really enjoy flying the E175 so this is just a no brainer!

I’m shaking. What to do? $31 is pretty cheap to upgrade from Main Cabin to First! I know what you’re thinking, this flight was only an hour long! Trust me, there was a point where I was about to hit decline and placeholder in my Main Cockpit. But… I fly alone and the 1-2 configuration in the first cabin is too tempting to ignore compared to the 2-2 configuration in the main cabin. There was seat 4A on the “1” side of the plane, so I was sold!

I was also wondering if I wanted to check in my bag so I wouldn’t have to roll it through the station. Upgrade to First and get 2 free checked bags. The bags are normally $30 so I checked my pocket to get my money’s worth!

Unfortunately, boarding was delayed by about 15 minutes due to the late arrival of the plane. But don’t worry! We ended up making up some of the lost time in the air and still arrived on time! 🙂

I previously flew this plane last year in first class on Alaska Airlines, but I’m in class 2A and this time I’m in class 4A. Again, I like the 1-2 configuration on First because I like having both the window seat and the aisle seat on the A side of the plane!

The 4A sits directly in front of the first row of premium seats, and only a short headrest curtain separates the cabin. For this reason, I prefer 2A because there won’t be two seats right behind you.

In terms of the seat, legroom is solid with 42 inches of legroom. The tray table sits on the armrest and has a small cup holder that pulls out from the other armrest.

As expected, flying out of John Wayne, the pilots warned everyone that the takeoff would be steep and somewhat uncomfortable due to flight restrictions at John Wayne Airport. Not too bad, but of course more vertical takeoffs than usual.

Carrie is a flight attendant in first class and is very nice. Beverage service was served shortly after take off and the selection from the snack basket was quite good. I chose some chocolate covered cookies and trail mix. Disappointed to see that drinks are no longer served in glasses! There was still glass on my flight last September from San Jose to Los Angeles. 🙁

Palm Springs Flights: Alaska Airlines Adds Reno/lake Tahoe, San Jose, Boise Service

Overall, it’s great to have an all-in-one window and aisle seat in Alaska Airlines First Class! While it’s nice to have a premium E175 over Alaska, it’s really not necessary for such a short one-hour flight.

Hello everyone! The travel bug hit me at the age of 8 on my first flight and ever since then I have loved planning vacations for my friends and family. My goal is to try out new hotel chains and try the cabins of many airlines there. Being a city person and living in the suburbs, I love to travel to any destination big or small. Alaska Airlines just stopped serving routes from Oakland (OAK) to Hawaii. Going forward, the airline will no longer fly to Honolulu (HNL), Maui (OGG), Lihue (LIH) or Kona (KOA) from Oakland, Alaska spokesman Ray Lane confirmed to TPG.

Monday’s news was a year in the making. When the pandemic broke out in March 2020, Alaska temporarily suspended flights between Oakland and Hawaii. The airline resumed services for the busy holiday season from November 20 to January 4, then suspended until May 21, 2021.

Despite the initial plan to restart OAK flights this summer, Alaska decided instead to stop those flights altogether.

Alaska Airlines made the difficult decision to end service effective May 21 between Oakland and four markets on the island of Hawaii: Oahu, Maui, Kauai and the island of Hawaii (Kona). Going forward, we will focus our service between the Bay Area and Hawaii with flights from San Francisco and San Jose.

Travelers with existing reservations on flights between Oakland and the islands will be able to reroute to other Alaska Airlines flights or receive a full refund. The airline promised to contact affected passengers to discuss alternative travel arrangements.

But it’s not all bad news. Alaska confirmed to TPG that it plans to increase flight frequency and add more Hawaii routes in the coming months from West Coast hubs, including Seattle (SEA), Los Angeles (LAX) and San Diego (SAN).

Southwest Airlines began flying between Oakland and Honolulu in March 2019. Since then, the Dallas-based carrier has expanded its reach to include non-stop flights to Maui, Kona and Lihue. Oakland is one of Southwest’s largest operations on the West Coast, so the airline is able to offer a variety of one-stop options for travelers flying to or from Paradise.

In addition to Southwest, Hawaiian Airlines, the national carrier of the Aloha State, has long flown to Oakland from Honolulu, Maui and Lihue.

And that’s just in Oakland. Two other major Bay Area airports — San Francisco (SFO) and San Jose (SJC) — also saw

Routes to Hawaii from an even wider range of service providers. In fact, Cirium’s schedule shows that there are more than 50 daily flights scheduled for May 2021 between SFO and SJC and Hawaii.

Although Hawaii has opened up to tourism, there doesn’t seem to be enough demand to sustain Alaska Airlines flights to the Aloha State from the three Bay Area airports.

This will be my first flight to Alaska and my first visit to the West Coast since 2007. Time flies so fast! I booked a one-way first class ticket from AUS to SJC because Alaska was on sale and I had an Amex offer available. SJC is closer to the friends I’m visiting than SFO (otherwise I’d probably go United).

Alaska Airlines To Offer Flights From Tucson To San Jose

As usual, I arrived at the Austin airport just before boarding – the CLEAR and TSA Pre lines were empty early this Saturday morning.

Unfortunately, AS301 took off from Gate 3, which blocked the view of the aircraft. Boarding begins at 7:45am for those requiring assistance.

When I booked the flight it was an Alaska A320 with the seat chart showing 3 rows in first class. However, before I boarded I noticed this marking on the fuselage indicating that this was an old Virgin aircraft.
