Arizona State University Mba Program – The U.S. & World Report released its prestigious annual list of the nation’s “Best Graduate Schools” this week. For the eighth consecutive year, Arizona State University’s WP Carey School of Business is among the top 30 full-time MBA programs in the country.

On the list of part-time MBA programs, the WP Carey School’s evening MBA program is ranked No. 27, also the best ranking of any school in Arizona. The new rankings are based largely on the schools’ positive reputation among corporate recruiters – who offer jobs to students – and among top administrators from peer-reviewed business schools. ASU Professor Emeritus Leonard (Len) Gordon, a founding member and former dean of the College Emeritus at Arizona State University, died March 4. He was 79 years old.
A key community member emeritus, an elected senator on the University’s Academic Senate Executive Committee and chair of the student faculty policy committee for 2014-2015, Gordon first joined the university in 1967. Gordon has published articles and books mainly in the field of collective behavior and social affairs. He wrote two books, “Sociology and American Social Issues” and “A City in Racial Crisis: Detroit Pre and Post the 1967 Riot,” as well as articles published in professional journals and the Encyclopedia of Sociology.
After nine years as chair of sociology, Gordon served as associate dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences for 11 years, followed by six years as dean of the College Emeritus, where he worked to develop the college’s program “to benefit the many talents of our emeritus faculty and the university community.”

Outside of university and community work, Gordon is a sports enthusiast. She plays competitive softball and is a fan of the Detroit Tigers and the University of Michigan Wolverines. He also wrote a memoir of his life with his wife, Rena, upon her death, as part of the Virginia G. Piper creative writing program. He also established the Len and Rena Gordon “Spunky” Award, presented each academic year to a student who has demonstrated “spunk” in overcoming obstacles to succeed as an undergraduate. He is survived by his wife, Dorthy.
