In just 21 months, students in this program will receive an associate degree in applied science and qualify for the American Radiologic Technician Registration Examination for Radiographers. This exam certifies the candidate as a Registered Technician, RT (R), ARRT.

Students must submit a North Arkansas College application as well as a radiology technology program application by March 1. Only applicants who have completed or are in progress BIOL 2214 Anatomy and Physiology I, BIOL 2224 Anatomy and Physiology II, and CP 0933, MAT 1011 and MAT 1012 (or higher math level) will be considered advanced). Students must maintain a minimum grade of “C” in all required courses in the entire radiology technology program curriculum. An overall GPA of 2.0 is required for admission to the program and for graduation.

The Radiology Technology Program is 8 years accredited by JRCERT. The maximum period that JRCERT can provide in this category is 8 years.

Teachers will also send messages to students via email and/or the learning management system detailing any changes to the class and the method of delivery. If this occurs, students must have reliable access to the Internet and a computer to complete the coursework. If a student does not have the necessary equipment to complete online assignments, they should contact their instructor and visit the Learning Resource Center to learn about the procedures for checking for equipment that is missing.

All classes will be virtual if the situation arises. Students must attend online until courses begin at . All faculties will hold FERPA in a virtual environment. Clinical will continue as scheduled if permitted. If clinical sites are closed due to a catastrophic event, students attend an online clinical simulation with the clinical coordinator. All clinical sites and instructors will be notified of this change via email. Additional instructions will be provided as needed.

According to the ASRT website, the state of Missouri does not require a state permit at this time. We are not sure of licensing requirements in other states. Associate In Radiologic Technology Degree

Students who have earned an associate degree from Penn College in radiography can go on to a bachelor’s degree in applied health studies. Students currently enrolled in the radiography program may work with their advisor to declare this major as a dual degree by taking both radiography courses and applied health courses at the same time. Proof of the appropriate certificate or associate degree in radiography will be required to qualify for graduation in the applied health studies major.

According to JRCERT Accreditation Standard 1.6, Pennsylvania College of Technology’s radiography program posts National Registry exam pass rates, placement rates, and in-program repetition/retention. All information is verified and according to the JRCERT annual report of the program. See results.

Anyone seeking admission to this major must first gain admission to Penn College. Admission to this elective entry is based on additional requirements beyond admission to the College. Details are available on the Selected Entry Criteria and Process webpage. Due to federal guidelines, students under the age of 18 will not be allowed to begin clinical education.

All students must maintain a cumulative graduation GPA of 2.0 or higher to remain in the major. In addition, all students must earn a “C” (2.0) or higher in all RAD, MTH, and BIO courses and PHS222. If a lower grade is received in any of these courses, the course must be repeated. The following classification system is applied to all radiographic (RAD) courses in this major. There is no joining of levels:

Child abuse waivers and criminal background checks are required for this major as established by clinical enrollment agreements. Organizations may prevent students from participating in clinical experiences at their sites if a criminal record or positive drug test is noted. As a result of a contract to have Pennsylvania College of Technology students at clinical sites, organizations are allowed to request random drug testing. Inability to complete clinical experience, fieldwork or intern educational experience will result in inability to meet courses and programs. For further clarification, students may consult their program director.
