The CIA restructured its cooperative program to meet many of the requirements set forth by universities for students to receive credit for any work done during an internship at the agency.

Students work on an alternate semester basis for at least three semesters before graduation. This usually means working during the summer semester. Because CIA does not work with any university with established cooperative program programs, it is the student’s responsibility to ensure that the student receives credit for any time spent at CIA.

As students will undergo the same rigorous medical and security screening procedures as staff, they are advised to apply at least 12 months prior to the student’s desired start date.

CIA’s graduate study program is open to full-time students in accredited graduate or doctoral programs. Participants in this program complete at least one 90-day tour prior to graduation and provide an excellent opportunity for graduate students to gain real-world experience.
