In most cases, China scholarships will not only cover tuition and accommodation during your study period, but you will also benefit from a monthly allowance for your personal expenses.

Belt And Road

Here you will find some pointers to help you decide which scholarship is best for you, as well as the steps and documents required to apply for them. Good luck and go!

These scholarships are universal in China. Citizens of almost all countries can apply for these scholarships based on educational agreements between countries. These scholarships do not have many requirements. Due to the expensive university education in the eastern country, these financial endowments are quite generous.

Of course, there are many other scholarships, such as inter-university scholarships, offered by private organizations, scholarships offered by Chinese universities or others that may be offered by your country’s educational institution. However, in this article I will only focus on the most popular and universal scholarships in China.

This question is difficult. The first thing you need to ask yourself is what are you going to study? You basically have two options: study Chinese (which leads to a university diploma of advanced studies), or do a degree (bachelor’s, master’s or PhD). Then you have to think about which city you want to study in, as this will also affect your choice of scholarship.

How To Write A Study Plan

To give you an idea, the institutions that offer scholarships have agreements with many universities across the country (everything in China is government-owned or affiliated with the government in some way). Finally, both departments of governments that award scholarships, such as the Confucius Institute and various universities, are part of the government body.

A number of scholarship quotas are derived from these agreements, which each financier allocates to each university according to the type of course. Students from all countries are eligible to apply for Chinese government scholarships, which translates into very high competition.

It is therefore very important that, once you have determined what you will study and in which city or university you would like to study, you should research the following points by university:

Research can be done online, but not all universities publish this information on their websites (especially in the English version), so I recommend asking them directly by email. And it is absolutely essential that you do this if you want to get some scholarships to finance your studies in China.

Now I will give you a series of tips about scholarships in China, which I hope will guide you a little more and help you figure out what kind of Chinese scholarship is best for you. , for example, Chinese Government Scholarship or Confucius Institute Scholarship. .

Many foreigners dare to take Chinese courses at Chinese universities. This is a good idea if you are already studying the language in your home country. You’ll see your level progress quickly, unlike the minimal growth your city sometimes sees. If you’ve never studied Chinese before, give it a try to see if you like it and have the skills. I have friends who spent a year studying Chinese in China and know more than I learned in five years in the UK. But that’s obviously up to you.

While the three scholarships mentioned in the previous section accept students for Chinese language courses, the Confucius Institute’s scholarship is the most focused toward this goal (it also offers grants for doctoral students and researchers). (but they are not very popular). However, this scholarship requires that you have studied Chinese first and preferably in one of the countless branches around the world.

It is not necessary to have studied the language before to apply for scholarships from national and provincial governments to take Chinese courses. However, the demand for these scholarships is high, so getting them is also a bit difficult. Between these two scholarships, Chinese government scholarships provide more grants for Chinese language courses at a large number of universities. However, not all provincial governments provide scholarships for learning Chinese. You will need to research university by university.

In short, if you have already studied Chinese, I strongly recommend that you apply for a Confucius Institute scholarship to study Chinese in China. If you meet all the requirements (I explain them in detail in the relevant section), it is very likely that they will give you a scholarship to the university of your choice.

If you have never learned Chinese or are not a student at a Confucius Institute, you must apply to the Chinese government or provincial government corresponding to the city in which you wish to study. Between the two, my advice is to apply for the former, as the offer is wider and hence you will have a higher chance of getting a scholarship in your chosen destination. Scholarships for Undergraduate or Postgraduate Studies in China

Many people decide to go to China to study for a bachelor’s, masters or doctorate, either in Chinese or in English. In this case, as in the previous one, you should first research which universities offer the course you want to pursue and, secondly, check whether such universities offer Govt. (National or Provincial) offer scholarships to students or not. Click here to start your search.

Once that’s clear, contact the university to find out how many students accept both Chinese government scholarships and provincial government scholarships (it’s hard to find that specific information on the internet). It is worth making a distinction at this point: There are two ways to apply for a Chinese government scholarship (national). One is through authorized agencies (mainly the Chinese embassy in your country or some international organizations in your membership area, such as the European Union, etc.), and the other is directly at the destination university.

Both routes have a scholarship option from the Chinese government, and both have different scholarship quotas. Also, if you apply, for example, through the Chinese embassy in your home country, you will only be competing with other students of the same nationality as you. But if, on the contrary, you decide to apply for this scholarship directly at the destination university, you will be competing with students from all over the world, as they accept applications from all five continents. Because of this and because the scholarship quota awarded directly by the university is low, it is more complicated to get a Chinese government scholarship if you choose this route (if you are already in China, e.g. as).

On the other hand, there are scholarships for provincial governments. The application for this scholarship provides documentation exclusively at the target university. This means you have to be in China to apply for them (you can also ask someone to do it for you or send the documents by post, but I don’t recommend this last option. I do).

Obviously, this requirement greatly reduces competition, as there are not many applicants who have already been in China before starting their studies. However, unless you want to study Chinese, provincial government scholarships require you to already have an official Chinese or HSK diploma (usually 4 for a diploma and 5 for a masters or doctorate, depending on each university. from) need to be obtained.

This last requirement is very favorable for those who already have the necessary Chinese qualifications. There are not so many people with such a level of Chinese, and even fewer people
