Ent Research Opportunities For Medical Students – At NYU Langone’s Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, our physicians and researchers are global leaders in their fields. Our department consistently ranks among the top recipients of National Institutes of Health (NIH) funding for ear, nose, and throat research.
Researchers in seven NIH-funded laboratories are translating basic science findings into better treatments for wound healing and voice disorders, and are examining factors that affect human communication and balance. Those at the Cochlear Implant Center pioneer clinical outcomes and intervention research that lead to improvements in the way hearing loss is treated. Others in the department are developing new and better surgical interventions for communication disorders, hearing loss, laryngeal disease, and head and neck cancer.

Our research enterprise is closely integrated with the larger research community at NYU Langone and other NYU schools and colleges. We have very strong relationships with the NYU Langone Institute of Neurology, the Perlmutter Cancer Center, the Department of Neurosurgery and the Department of Radiology, as well as the NYU Steinhardt Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders, the NYU College of Dentistry and the NYU Tandon School of Engineering.

The department provides guidance on research design, biostatistics and the preparation of research grants, papers and presentations. We provide support for all administrative aspects of successful research programs, such as obtaining approval for trials.
