Hello there! On February 17, 2020, I flew from San Jose, California to Seattle, Washington. It was a flight home from landing two days before visiting a friend. I took Southwest Airlines Flight 2161 (WN2161/SWA2161) from Norman Y Mineta San Jose International Airport (SJC/KSJC) to Seattle Tacoma International Airport (SEA/KSEA). Flight N7887A was operated by a 12-year-old Boeing 737-752. On this fully booked flight, we photographed a lot of sights along the flight path. Note: This flight was in February, which means it was before the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Overall, this flight was great. I was able to fly one more time before being quarantined due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. I was very happy to see my friends again. This flight was memorable because I was able to fly to Seattle, which is much better than my home airport in Portland. The flight attendants on board were great and the flight was mostly smooth. Southwest outdid itself once again and showed off a lot of LUVs on this flight. Can’t wait to be able to fly again after this pandemic is over.

I just flew into SJC from Seattle, landed, checked out the terminal area and it was time to head back to Seattle. This was the return portion of the miles trip to fly the Delta A220 for the first time! As the plane was going down, I tried to get First Class in Comfort+ back to Seattle. Because this ticket had the same mileage as Comfort+, it was only 15,000 skymiles away. Once you arrive, it’s time to check your luggage and head back to the terminal for your flight to Seattle!

The Delta check-in area is located under Terminal A at SJC. There were multiple drop off agents and one agent in the Sky Priority aisle. I used the check-in kiosk to print my boarding pass and checked into my first class seat, 2D.
Once everyone is checked in, TSA is located upstairs in the check-in hall. My first class ticket came with a “priority” line entry at SJC, but since there was only one person in front of me, I was directed to the regular screening line and passed through TSA in less than 5 minutes. I haven’t done PreCheck yet for this trip, but I think this terminal can get crowded very quickly. So the high season here can be really tough.
After going through security around 245:00, I checked the status of my flight from Gate 11 across from TSA in Terminal A (more on that in a moment). Almost all airlines fly from Terminal A. Here at SJC, only Alaska and Southwest depart from Terminal B.
One of Delta’s new A220s, N115DU, departs Gate 10 for Salt Lake City. It was the ship that brought me from Seattle! 🙂

Alaska 737s are frequent at SJC. Oh man, looks like we never left Seattle! Alaska occupies the northern half of Terminal B, gates 17-22, and Southwest occupies the southern half of Terminal B, gates 23-36.
Seats are located at Gate 11. Boarding was delayed from 16:20 to 16:55 due to an inbound flight from Salt Lake City departing approximately 1 hour late.

I was traveling in first class for this flight and was in the first group to board the first class group with a diamond medal. The A220’s First Class cabin is set up in a 2-2 configuration, with each seat offering 36 inches of pitch and 21 inches of seat width.
My seat, 2D, had a pillow, blanket and water bottle on the seat console. If you’re traveling in First Class on Delta A220, we recommend a window seat in rows 2, 2A or 2D, as you can use two windows in row 2 instead of one window in rows 1 and 3.
