The Georgia Tech Scheller College of Business was founded more than a century ago and has a distinguished history as part of a world-class technology research university. Scheller used $20 million of his gift as a challenge gift designed to inspire donations and pledges from other donors. Fundraising for the challenge was completed on June 30, 2012. The remaining $5 million of the initial $25 million contribution from Mr. Scheller as money to be distributed by the president.
That $50 million includes a $25 million gift he gave anonymously in 2009. It is the largest cash gift in Georgia Tech history.
