When Jesus heard this, he said: This sickness is not for death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified through it.
So when he heard that he was sick, he stayed where he was two days longer.
His disciples said to him, Guruji, lately the Jews wanted to stone you, and you are going there again?
John 11:24 Martha Replied,
Jesus answered: Are there not twelve hours in a day? If any day walk, he shall not stumble, for he seeth the light of this world.
This he said, and then he said to them: Our friend Lazarus sleeps, but I am going to wake him from his sleep.
But Jesus spoke of his death, but they thought he spoke of resting in sleep.
And I’m glad for you that I wasn’t there (if you believe that:) Anyway, let’s get to it.

Jesus had not yet come to the city, but he was in the place where Martha met him.
The Jews who were with her in the house and comforting her, when they saw that Mary got up quickly and went out, they followed her and said: She is going to cry there.

What Does John 5:11 Mean?
Jesus said: Remove the stone! Marta, the dead man’s sister, tells him: God, he already stinks, because he has been dead for four days.
Jesus said to her: Did I not tell you that if you would believe, you would see the glory of God?
Then they took the stone from where the dead man was lying. And Jesus lifted up his eyes and said: Father, I thank you that you have heard me.
And I knew that you always hear me, but I said this to the people standing there so that they would believe that you sent me.

And one of them, named Caiaphas, the high priest of the same year, said to them: You know nothing.
Do not even think that it is convenient for the opposition that one man should die for the people and the whole nation should not perish.50
