SCOTTSDALE (March 24, 2021) – Make-A-Arizona is pleased to announce that the 2021 Make-A-Arizona Ball presented by Phusion Projects raised over $3.1 million in one night. These funds support more than 548 programs that Arizona plans with Arizona’s children and families.

The event, which celebrates Make-A-Arizona’s mission by raising money to help Arizona children with serious illnesses, was the organization’s first mixed event, with about 270 attendees in a typical 1,000-seat room at the JW Marriott. Scottsdale Camelback Inn Resort & Spa and many other sponsors are virtually watching from home.

“I am proud of the tireless passion and dedication of the Make-A-Arizona team,” said Renee Parsons, president and chief creative officer of PXG Apparel. “For 40 years, this organization has been the shining star of countless families, conveying personal and visual messages to children struggling with a serious illness.”

The idea was four co-chairs: Jill Craigsten-Riley, Marie Lederman, Jennifer Moser and Renee Parsons.

The amount raised included a surprise gift of $2 million from the Bob and Renee Parsons Foundation. Longtime supporters of the cause, Bob and Renee Parsons, have donated more than $12 million to the organization over the past 15 years.

“During these uncertain times, Make-A- offers families some much-needed magic and encouragement,” said Bob Parsons, PXG Founder and CEO. “The hope and life-changing excitement a child experiences when they are gifted is more important now than ever.”

“The Parsons Gift was the icing on the cake for a successful event,” said Make-A-Arizona President and CEO Elizabeth Reich. “Since Parsons began donating, Make-A-Arizona has grown exponentially each year to reach more children. “This new gift allows us to maintain our momentum while giving hope to children, even in times of pandemic restrictions.”

As the founding chapter of Make-A-Wish Arizona, since our inception in 1980, we have worked hard to increase the number of wish children we serve each year. Despite a slight slowdown due to the COVID restrictions, we are still achieving more babies per year. It has been under health safety recommendations for over a year. With funds raised through direct philanthropy, we are proud to have our many donors, volunteers, Wish families and Wish Kids support us and grant life-changing wishes for seriously ill Arizona children.
