Lauren Schenk is a climatologist and active member of the American Geophysical Union (AGU). The Master of Laws (MSL) is a professional legal degree offered by Northwestern’s Pritzker School of Law. Preferred requirements include a JD degree and 3-5 years of experience teaching or working in an area relevant to the MSL curriculum, such as law, business, entrepreneurship, or an administrative environment. Additionally, we are looking for candidates who have experience or interest in working with international students and international issues.
The MSL is an important symbol of the law school’s commitment to programs at the intersection of law, business, and STEM. Although MSL classes are separate from JD classes, they are taught by the same faculty and often cover the same topics. MSL students are deeply involved in the life of the law school; their presence enhances the learning environment for all law students.
The MSL curriculum includes clusters in four key areas: business, law, intellectual property and professional development. Classes cover a variety of topics at the law-business-STEM interface, including privacy, patent design, health and medicine, IP strategy, business, data protection and piracy, and regulation of STEM industries. MSL students also take classes that focus on improving communication and digital skills.
