Santa Cruz has a mild climate all year round so visit anytime (except winter as it can get a little rainy). I recommend visiting the spring to enjoy the wildflowers while riding and to catch the tail of the gray whale migration.

If you’re looking for a quiet beach away from the crowds, head to Greyhound Rock beach, a 17-minute drive north of Bonny Doon. Walk along the paved path opposite the parking lot, towards the blue water.
