The fastest way to the Graduate School of Education is to apply online through Rutgers’ Office of Graduate and Professional Admissions. You will receive detailed information and instructions along with the application forms. It is in your best interest to apply as soon as possible. In addition to the general deadlines listed below, please note that programs may, at their discretion, close the application before the specified deadlines or extend the application deadline if there is sufficient time to make decisions.

Applicants who are not currently enrolled in a Rutgers University program may apply online at Graduate Admissions: https://gradstudy.rutgers.edu.
All applicants who are currently enrolled in a program at Rutgers University and do not wish to pursue a degree while continuing their current program should contact the Office of Student and Academic Services (OSAS) at 848-932-3232 or academic.services @ phone number.
Applicants must also complete an online application if they wish to apply in person to the state, and must also download, sign and submit a waiver of further education form. The form is available on the Graduate Admissions website, in the Print Library.
Admissions And Tuition
Applicants are responsible for reviewing and verifying that they meet the program requirements before submitting their application. The application fee will not be refunded if the applicant is not accepted by the Rutgers Graduate School of Education.
Shortly after the application is complete, you will receive confirmation of your submitted application and an RUID number by email. If you do not receive your RUID number within 24-48 hours of completing your graduate application, please call the Office of Graduate Admissions at (848) 932-7711.
After submitting your application, you must wait two to three weeks for the application to be processed. Applicants will be notified of the decision within this time (by e-mail and letter).
Applicants accepted into the program will receive instructions on how to create a NETID and use the NETID to register for classes.
Visits & Tours
Applicants wishing to register for classes in the following semester must submit their application at least 45 days prior to the first day of class to ensure processing and class availability. However, applicants may apply early to secure a place in their preferred class before it fills up.

Due to the advance block embedded in the system, students cannot register for the following special education qualification programs using the web registration system: 05:300:480, 05:300:481 and 05:300:495. Please note that if you would like to take courses for credit toward one of the certification programs, you must complete a formal application and be accepted into the desired program.
Successful completion of courses as an undergraduate does not mean that the student will be admitted to a major. Undergraduates may take as many courses as they wish, but only 12 of those credits can be transferred toward degree requirements in most programs. The application of these 12 credits is decided by the academic department.
Admission to the degree program is based on academic transcript review, personal statement, GRE scores, academic and professional recommendations, and formal application. The criteria and methods of their application are defined in the list. Faculty are available to discuss admissions procedures and degree requirements with prospective degree candidates.
Rutgers is a registered provider (vendor #96) of professional development programs, both credit and non-credit, that count toward New Jersey’s 100-hour professional development requirement.

The most important step in the financial aid process is completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
By completing the FAFSA each year, students apply for federal grants, loans, merit-based scholarships, and work-study offers. FAFSA applications also determine whether New Jersey students qualify for state aid. All students are encouraged to file the FAFSA each year.
There are direct and indirect costs to entering or attending any university, which typically include tuition, admissions fees, housing costs, meal plans, books and study materials, transportation, and personal expenses. Tuition varies by school affiliation, campus, and program. Other costs of participation vary depending on household circumstances, personal needs and other factors.
Continuing and enrolled students who submit the FAFSA are automatically considered for a wide range of scholarships awarded by the Office of Financial Aid. First-year student awards are awarded regardless of location at the University of New Brunswick, Newark, and Camden. Fees may vary by school and university.

All need-based college scholarship funds are awarded based on financial need as determined by information provided on the FAFSA. Even if you think you won’t qualify for need-based financial aid, it’s still important to file the FAFSA because some merit-based scholarships have a need-based component.
