San Bernardino County Job Opportunities – The San Bernardino County Workforce Development Council is a volunteer agency that oversees the distribution of federal funds to strengthen the skills of our local workforce. The council is led by local business owners, including public partners, educators, union leaders and community organizations. Our three U.S. employment centers in California offer comprehensive strategies to meet local businesses’ needs for skilled labor, create opportunities for job seekers, prepare for, and pursue high-paying careers.

Today was the last day to join the more than 4,000 mountain residents helped by the county’s snow removal rebate program.

The $1.75 million allocated by the Board of Supervisors to fund the program is expected to be depleted by applications that are still being processed and may be filed today.
The committee created the plan to help mountain residents recover from unprecedented snowfall in late February and early March. Residents are able to receive up to $500 in professional snow removal reimbursement. The program is one of many the council is implementing to help mountain residents and businesses in the wake of the record-breaking snowstorm.

“Today, 16- and 17-year-olds can pre-register to vote and serve as student voters,” said San Bernardino County Voter Clerk Stephanie Shea. “These are great ways to spark interest among young people eager to vote.”
Launching An Opportunity Zone For San Bernardino County

California Education Law designates the last two weeks of April and September as education weeks for high school voters. This is an opportunity for high school students to learn more about the voting process, learn how to become a student poll worker, get resources to hold a mock student election on campus, and learn how to organize a voter registration event on campus during this time.
Teachers participating in High School Voter Education Week can talk to students about the importance of pre-registering to vote; have the opportunity to work with the San Bernardino County Voter Clerk; and create an environment where teens aspire to become lifelong engaged citizens. In addition, California Secretary of State Dr. Shirley N. Weber provides guidance to school administrators and teachers.

Case Study San Bernardino County, California: Workforce Training Becomes An Economic Catalyst
Additionally, eastbound I-10 lanes on Cedar Avenue are scheduled to be closed overnight as crews partially remove a portion of the Cedar Avenue Bridge over the highway and over the rail tracks.
A series of six 55-hour highway directional closures on SR 210 in the Highlands and Redlands were originally scheduled to begin in mid-February, but were rescheduled several times due to rainy weather.
All westbound lanes of SR 210 will be closed on Friday, April 14 at 10:00 p.m. Until Monday, April 17 at 5:00
The freeway closure will allow crews to safely conduct paving work at the San Bernardino Avenue Interchange on-ramp and exit intersections.
San Bernardino County Mulls Seceding From California
During this weekend’s closure, motorists turning westbound on SR 210 from either direction on I-10 will take the Alabama Street exit north to Greenspot Road, then turn east onto the westbound ramp of SR 210.

Crews will also close all eastbound lanes of I-10 on Cedar Avenue beginning Friday, April 14 at 10 p.m. until Saturday, April 15th at 6:00am and then Saturday, April 15th at 11:59pm. At 7 a.m. on Sunday, April 16, the eastern half of the Cedar Avenue Bridge over the freeway and rail tracks will be partially removed.
Cedar Avenue will also be closed between Slover Avenue and Valley Boulevard on both weekends. Motorists will be diverted along Valley Boulevard, Slover Avenue, Riverside Avenue and Sierra Avenue.
