Just in time for summer, Bay Area travelers will once again be able to fly from San Francisco to Madrid.

Iberia Airlines, Spain’s largest airline, has announced that it will resume operating three flights a week from San Francisco International Airport until October 27, a date known as the end of the summer travel season in the aviation industry. . The flights will be operated on Airbus A330-200 aircraft, which can carry 288 passengers in business, premium economy and economy cabins.

The airline also started direct flights from San Francisco to Barcelona last March, offering four flights a week.
In total, 154 flights will be offered on the San Francisco-Madrid route, which according to Iberia is 45% more than the same period last year. The company also says this number is slightly higher than the pre-pandemic summer level.
San Francisco is the eighth US city served by Iberia with direct flights. Other destinations include flights from Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Miami, Los Angeles, New York and Washington D.C.
