The ASWB clinical examination contains 170 questions covering four key aspects of a career in social work. It includes four aspects:

Human Growth and Development: This topic covers the effects of body image; various developmental theories, including sexual development and lifelong spiritual development; the impact of loss, separation and grief; gerontology; and the impact of aging parents on adult children.
Human Behavior in the Social Environment: This topic includes information on the dynamics of interpersonal relationships, theories of crisis intervention, theories of social change and community development, conflict theory, and criminal justice systems.
Diversity and discrimination: This topic includes the concepts of sexual orientation; how transgenderism and the transition process affect behavior, attitudes, identity and relationships; and feminist theory.
Biophysical History and Collateral Data: This topic covers indicators of sexual dysfunction, obtaining sensitive information, and how to assess client/client systems.

Answer Explanations For The 2021 22 Act Reading Test
The Association of Social Work Councils has released an analysis of passing clinical exams for 2022. The board analyzed testing and scoring data from 2011 to 2021, including statistics related to gender, race, age and primary language.
In summary, the analysis shows that 88% of all those who took the ASWB clinical exam between 2011 and 2021 eventually passed the exam. The age group with the highest passing rate is 18 to 29 years old with 91%. According to the ASWB, women are more likely than men to take the exam, English is their primary language, and the demographic group with the highest eligibility is white.
The pass rate for test takers whose primary language is English is 83%, and 70% for test takers whose primary language is not English.
Data from 2011 to 2021 shows a 14% increase in members of historically marginalized groups taking the ASWB clinical exam.

Taking the test costs $260. You can apply through your local Social Work Regulatory Board. (Note that you may have to pay additional fees to your state or jurisdiction’s licensing board.) Your board will allow you to take the test, and then you can register with the ASWB.
You should arrive at the testing center 30 minutes before the exam. You’ll need identification — a government-issued ID such as a passport or driver’s license, and additional ID with your name and signature (work ID, Social Security card, for example).
You may not bring personal items such as electronic devices, mobile phones, watches and outerwear into the testing room. All personal items must be kept in a locker at the test center and you will not have access to them during the test. Food and drink will not be allowed without the prior permission of the candidate.
