Sofia Hotel San Diego Reviews

Sofia Hotel San Diego Reviews – A life-size bronze statue created by artist Seward Johnson stands in front of the Sofia Hotel. Titled “That-a-Way,” the painting is of a handsome but calm man in a casual suit with an outstretched hand to show the way to a hotel reception. That pretty much sums up the style of this hotel.
The reception is a pleasant and comfortable space with a dark wood gray and cream paneled reception desk, comfortable sofas and a fireplace creating a relaxed living environment.
Sofia Hotel San Diego Reviews
Recognized as a National Historic Landmark, this hotel has a great downtown location close to or within easy reach of all that San Diego has to offer.
Holiday Inn Express San Diego Airport Old Town
It’s the perfect location for anyone staying in the city for a few days and wants to enjoy the city limits without breaking the bank. Or for those who want to combine business and fun.
The reception staff are always attentive and greet you by name when they see you. There’s a sign offering extra essentials – if you forgot to say your toothpaste, the hotel will give it to you for free.
The hotel has a 24-hour fitness and yoga studio and offers free one-hour yoga classes and free street walks and beer tours to introduce you to the city. It’s a nice touch.
To the left of the lobby is a small 24-hour business center with three computers that provide high-speed optical Internet. Valet parking is also available, and luckily some rooms are pet-friendly.
This Plaque Explains The Statue
There are 211 rooms decorated in muted tones enhanced by soothing mood lighting. Some rooms are quite small, but still include amenities such as coffee and tea making facilities, a mini-fridge, and two bottles of water each day. The bathrooms are spacious and equipped with Pro Terra fragrance products and toiletries. A beautiful bowl sink and toilet corner are decorated with real orchids in the bedroom.
Comfy linens, comfy beds and amenities like hair dryers, irons and ironing boards and a universal alarm clock/radio docking station make life easy. And of course there is a large flat screen TV.
The hotel’s restaurant, the 120-seat Currant, is an American-style brasserie with a retro vibe with its high ceilings, marble-topped tables, black chairs, marble columns and black-and-white tiled floors. American-French bistro-style food is served alongside cocktails and other snacks.
This three-star hotel offers services that meet its three-star standards. Comfortable rooms, free tours and yoga, and 24-hour service. This is a good value hotel.

The hotel’s convenient location means there’s plenty nearby, such as the trendy Gaslamp District, Horton’s Shops and Seaport Village, which you can hop on the trolley from.
The train station that takes you to the coast to say LA or San Franciso is walking distance and the airport is only a 15 minute drive.
San Diego Airport is a 15-minute drive away. You can take a taxi or use the MTS San Diego Trolley – Light Rail Transit Network instead. Its three lines serve many popular areas and attractions such as downtown, the convention center, SDSU, Old Town and the Mexican border. There are two ways to access the trolley from terminals 1 and 2. For a historic hotel, Sofia has no surviving details. The rooms are beautifully decorated with mood lighting, luxurious bedding and toiletries. Did I mention how comfortable the bed is? Hotel Sofia found me new sheets and blankets as soon as I got back from vacation.
Since Sofia is a historical building, the rooms are very small. It wasn’t a big deal since I stayed alone, but I imagine it would be for two or more people.
Carte Hotel San Diego Downtown, Curio Collection By Hilton, San Diego
With comfort and effortless style, Hotel Sofia offers a quiet, historic retreat from the high-energy city of San Diego. Sofia’s Original Full Service American Bistro and Bar has a vintage feel and makes you feel like you’ve stepped back in time. I give Sofia extra bonus points for hosting a 24-hour fitness center and yoga studio that is pet-friendly and conveniently located near the Gaslamp District.
To be honest, being in San Diego (the size of the US capital in good weather) and not having a balcony or pool to enjoy the sun attracted me.
Being so close to Gaslamp and with great interior design, Sofia is reasonably priced. Overall I give Sofia a thumbs up.
