In the video, Marriott explained that there was a backlog of visas from the pandemic, which contributed to the delay.

“Various global issues and crisis going on at present and unprecedented demand for visas have also contributed to delays in visa processing,” she said.

Ms Marriott said 300,000 international students wanted to move to the UK in 2019, with that number almost doubling this year.
As a result, Kenyans wishing to travel to the UK to study, work or as tourists are advised to apply six weeks in advance.
“The six weeks starts from the day you go to the visa application centre, not when you fill the forms online,” explained the high commissioner.
However, Ms Marriott urged Kenyans to secure the right documents as this would help speed up the decision-making process.
