What Food Makes You Happy – “Alright, I’ll bake some cookies.” “Don’t cry. Stop and have some ice and everything will be fine.”
Are any of these sounds familiar, perhaps you heard these words as a child? It was an innocent word and a very sincere act for our caregivers to express their love and care when we were hurt. They knew that doing this through food was not just food. Basically, it’s processed foods, fatty foods and carbohydrates, foods that we call “comfort”. Thus, food is a special type of medicine that is used as an anti-depressant, to cure harmful conditions. But such patterns can be very problematic, especially if there are habitual patterns that cause excessive weight gain.

Physicists continue to study how the chemical composition of food affects our bodies. Research like this is very valid, but I prefer to focus on the psychology rather than the biology of comfort food.
Foods Proven To Put You In A Good Mood
Every culture has its own food customs. When I was little, we were short on money and used our limited resources to buy special occasion foods. This means we got special treatment. For my birthday I had to choose a special meal and cake and some kind of ice cream (within my budget). Food was brought to the bereaved family at the funeral. Funeral ceremonies are of particular interest to this subject. The message is very clear. “I hope this food makes you happier. “Again, there is nothing malicious, and many gifts are given with love and care. But this further supports the use of food to “feel good”.
Early in life they are given messages and then reinforced throughout life about how food can change our ways and make us feel better. We wait for the nourishment of that comfort, because we see it as happiness. And we feel happier and better, even if temporarily.
1. The key to changing this perpetual pattern of equating food with happiness is awareness. It’s time to think about how food is used in your life, and how it relates to your emotional state.
2. Next, take time to think about your own passion. You might want to keep a feeling journal and write how you feel every day. By looking back, you become more aware of the connection between food and emotions in the past, and you become more aware of emotions in the present.

3. Then the work begins. Take each food related emotion and make a list of other things you can do with that emotion. For example, let’s say “sadness” is an emotion associated with eating. Here is another way to comfort yourself when you are sad.
5. After this list you can see them regularly somewhere else. Please advise. We need to add more. Or see what you’re trying that may not have worked.
One of the most important tools for understanding the relationship between food and behavior is to understand how we are conditioned to respond in certain ways when we are repeatedly exposed to stimuli. In this case, when you hear that food (stimulus) makes you feel better, you believe that eating cakes, cookies, etc. will certainly make you feel better. But other things that we don’t think about are the stimuli, the care, the concern, the love that accompanies food, and the emotions that it has given us. That is, we attribute the love we feel to our response (feeling) to the wrong stimulus (food) rather than the stimulus that made us feel better.
So maybe it’s not food that makes us happy. Perhaps it is the memory of these people expressing their love and concern for us. Maybe that’s what makes us really happy. Patients often say that they eat when they are sad, lonely or bored. they seek comfort.
Can You Bake Your Way To Happiness During Global Crises? Probably Not.
They want to feel “full” or “satiated” and the food provides the release of the body. But the true comfort they seek is not found in carbohydrates and fat. It can be found in a sense of belonging, connection with others, a sense of creativity and inspiration.
Remember, you’ve been eating comfort food your whole life, and that’s likely to change anytime soon. Be sure to take these changes in time. If you can change your relationship with food, you can change your relationship with others, and find a richer and healthier relationship.
