When Do You Apply For Rotc Scholarship

When Do You Apply For Rotc Scholarship – Some high school seniors who are working through the scholarship process this year or who are considering applying may run into a roadblock due to COVID and canceling the SAT or ACT test. If you were unable to schedule your test Cadet Command has created a way for you to still apply and compete for a scholarship.
All this information can be found in the Warning on the application website, so if you haven’t started the application in time. The first application deadline is February 4th. You can find basic instructions here. I’ve seen applicants start and finish applying in less than a week, so jump on it while you’re still in the running.
When Do You Apply For Rotc Scholarship
Before the January board you had to have SAT and/or ACT scores to prepare for the board. With the last board this year, the Cadet Command has put in place a process to allow applicants who cannot take the standard test due to COVID to continue to compete. Here’s what you need to do:

Candidates who cannot test can submit supporting information from 29 JAN 2021 until the March Selection Board deadline of 4 MAR 2021 for those who cannot take the ACT / SAT before 7 FEB 2021.
O A brief statement from a high school counselor for students unable to enroll due to COVID-19 restrictions; there are no exams scheduled in their area.
Once this document is approved, Cadet Command processors will change the document type to “SAT SCORES” and 98 SAT scores (499 EBR&W and 499 Math) will be included in their application. ALL flexible test applicants will have 998 SAT test scores.
Assuming a student has submitted a high school transcript, their status will change to Interview (see the Selection Status tab of your application). This will help them continue the application process to prepare their March Selection Board packet. They must complete the entire application, Physical Fitness Test and PMS Interview to be accepted and considered for scholarship selection.

All “eligible” applicants will be screened together during the board window of 15-19 March 2021. Notification of selected applicants will be made by the regular March board.
Candidates who advanced through the “flexible screening” process and were not selected through the intermediate process are still eligible for one of the brigade’s 3AD assignments. No waiver test will be required for 3AD winners.
March 4th is the deadline to file your third board file. Applications are low this year, so if you have a strong file or can put together a strong file your chances are as good as ever. If you have any questions or need help be sure to contact the ROO at the school of your choice. Here are the dates for the Army ROTC summer/fall/winter training process and boards. These dates apply to a student who will be in high school in the fall of 2021, graduating in the spring of 2022.
Get out of the calendar and start creating your own reminders and deadlines. It may seem like these days are far away, but what you don’t see here are all the tasks like interviews and SAT/ACT tests and gathering documents that need to be done. Plan, set goals, and plan ahead and you will be able to compete.

The advice is the same as last year… You need to fill your application before the board which makes you the best candidate. I encourage you to try to get into one of the first two boards. Waiting until the deadline and being seen by one board is rarely the best move. If you have a solid file you should be shooting for your file to be completed by October 1st and reviewed by the first board. If in doubt, the best thing to do is to contact a recruiting or recruiting officer (like myself) at one of the Army ROTC schools/programs you wish to join. In most cases we are more than happy to review your file and help you become the best candidate for you. Don’t try to do this alone. We are here to help.
In the coming weeks I will post a 2021 plan on how to get started, as I do every year.

Want To Join Rotc? Here Are The Pros And Cons
For those unfamiliar, ROTC is a college education exchange for both training and mandatory service in one of the United States armed services.
The origins of the current system go back to the National Defense Act of 1916. This act brought standard military training under one government agency, the ‘Reserve Officers’ Training Corp’.
However, programs like ROTC can be traced back to 1862 with the passage of the Morrill Act.
This law ensured the creation of various land-grant colleges, which became many of today’s universities. One of the federal government’s requirements for these colleges was to include military training for students. This requirement formed the basis for the first ROTC-like programs in the country.

There were other developments and many schools offered programs to train civilians to become skilled officers, ready to be called upon in wartime. Today’s ROTC programs still train most high school and college students
