Wright State University Employment Opportunities – Wright State University student entrepreneurs will present their business plans to a panel of experienced business leaders during the final Wright Entrepreneurship presentation on April 6.
A T-shirt designer, baker, roofer, artist and inventor will participate in Wright Venture, an annual entrepreneurial competition in which Wright State students compete for start-up capital to support new businesses.

Wright Venture, hosted by Raj Soi College of Business, is an entrepreneurial competition based on the reality competition series Shark Tank.
Students will pitch their business plan to a group of experienced business leaders, the Wolf Pack. The winner of the competition will receive a starting capital of $5,000.
Students from Raj Soin School of Business and Boonshoft School of Medicine will compete on April 6.
Wright Venture aims to encourage entrepreneurial thinking and activity in students by helping them develop a business plan. The program also gives students the opportunity to practice what they learn in the Wright State classroom.

The program creates an entrepreneurial-like experience, including mentoring, networking, idea development, product design, service creation, financial management, business planning and marketing support.
For most of the spring semester, students participated in a series of entrepreneurship workshops led by Wright State faculty and local business planning, finance, marketing and business operations experts in preparation for their April 6 final exam.
“This is a platform where students can turn their plans and dreams into reality,” said Dr. Kendall Goodrich, professor and chair of the Department of Marketing. “Because we have a whole set up for them, from information sessions to a series of workshops, from mentorship to experience and feedback from real-world entrepreneurs. Even if you don’t win, you can use that feedback to keep pushing it forward. “
“Feedback is really valuable,” said Dr. Tom Trainor, dean of the Raj Soen School of Business. “The judges are interested in ensuring that students receive valuable feedback in addition to the feedback they receive from their tutors.”

Mackenzie Burgan, an entrepreneurship and marketing student and president of the Entrepreneurship Club, said Wright Ventures provides a rewarding learning experience for students, especially those not majoring in business. Learning about different business concepts through the program’s seminars is something students can benefit from throughout their lives, he said.
“We had some great speakers for the workshop and they provided a lot of great information,” Burgan said.
Judging the Wolves for this year’s game were Jonah Sandler, chief entertainment officer of Scene75, and two Wright State alumni: Chris LaFountain, president and marketing adjunct faculty member of Glacier Industrial and Happi Energy, and Leslie Ott, chief operating officer and general manager of James Investment Research. Students participating in Wright Ventures are not the only ones who could benefit from participating in the finals. Students interested in entrepreneurship are encouraged to attend this event to learn more about starting a business or developing a new product.

Wright State Creates New College, Combining Health/education
Throughout the academic year, the series will feature speakers discussing job and internship opportunities. A Secret Service representative is scheduled to speak on Nov. 14.
At the Oct. 10 event, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base acquisition analyst Andre White and two other recruiters will detail job requirements for contract specialists.
Contracting professionals should be awarded contracts with corporate giants of the defense industry, which would allow interns to negotiate with companies like Lockheed Martin, Boeing and Northrop Grumman, White said. The goal is to get as much technology as possible to support the warfighter, and to do so at a cost that is fair and reasonable to both defense contractors and the U.S. taxpayer.
Contract professionals receive three to four years of training, which includes the opportunity to work on a variety of projects.

Much of this will come from on-the-job training from mentors, other contract professionals and specialists from finance, project management, engineering and logistics. There will also be a course on the art of negotiation, contract law, contract pricing and more.
Applicants for full-time positions must be U.S. citizens and have a minimum of 24 credit hours of business-related courses. Wright State University’s Master of Social Work degree is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. This program prepares you to become an advanced generally competent and ethical social worker who can engage and intervene with diverse populations. Admitted graduate students are offered full-time (2 years), part-time (3-4 years) or advanced (3 semesters) courses.
Successful completion of the Master of Social Work (SW) program meets the educational requirements of Ohio LSW and LISW, as set forth by the Board of Advisors, Social Workers, and Marriage and Family Therapists. Licensing and certification requirements vary by state. If you plan to obtain professional licensure or certification in a state other than Ohio, please contact the appropriate state licensing agency. All states require a master’s degree in social work to begin the licensure process.
If you earn a Master of Arts in Social Work from Wright State University, you qualify to become a Licensed Social Worker (LSW) and a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) in the state of Ohio. For more information, contact the Ohio Council of Advisors Social Workers and Marriage and Family Therapists. If you live out of state, check that state’s licensing board requirements. Each state has its own degree-granting regulations. An M.A.S.W. is an acceptable degree for licensure, but other states may have different requirements for applicants.

As part of our Council on Social Work Education accredited social pedagogy, you’ll be placed at one of our more than 100 partner institutions in the Dayton area and beyond to gain hands-on experience in social work practice. You’ll have the opportunity to apply theory, practical wisdom, and create and implement interventions in a variety of settings. This experience will help develop the skills necessary to become a competent and well-trained social work professional after you graduate.
